Can't get much more clear on that, what does a 6-1 loss say about the motivation level? I'm not sure even a super ball would be able to bounce back as much as this team is going to need to.

In regards to the final regular season home game, "It was one of the Stampede's best efforts of the season"
Huh? Really? Wow.

"It seems like they're always thinking about the next fight or the next big hit. That might get them off track."
Nope, didn't seem to. Seems to have done the exact opposite.

Every year you hear about which team nobody wants to play when the playoffs start. This year, guess which team everybody wanted to play.
A team whose offensive breakout strategy is to flip the puck down the ice & hope someone can beat out an icing call is not going to be a successful playoff team. A team that controls the puck, does the dirty work along the boards digging the puck out, pays the price in front of the net & puts pressure on the opposing team in all three zones is a successful playoff team. If they all wanted to pay the price like only a few on the team do, then it would be a successful team. But they're not all like Eddy. A team whose idea of forechecking is to send one person in and all the rest back to wait for the full speed rush is not a successful team.

Hartzell said that the smaller ice at the Arena would be beneficial to the home team because they were going to pressure teams to try to make quick decisions & capitalize on their mistakes. Where was this pressure? Laying back on the blue line & deeper and watching the puck carrier streak by on the way to the net really isn't pressuring & causing mistakes...at least not by the team you're hoping will screw up. The whole "old time hockey" crap that was talked about in September sure turned into a steamy pile, unless he meant Gasparini & Kaufman teams being "old time hockey". Geez, at least Kaufman's teams didn't take sh!t from the other teams as they were losing.
