Playoff hockey/OT/Penalties

Watching the Gopher game (just finished) & wondering why refs seem to think the rulebook doesn't apply in OT. It seems all levels of hockey put the whistle away once OT hits in the playoffs.

Their argument is that they don't want to determine the outcome of the game...huh?

Aren't they taking part in the outcome by not calling penalties? Perhaps you wouldn't see long OT games if the scoring chances weren't illegaly interfered with? Sure,...

Just got really, really bored & thought I'd compare the USHL standings to date if games were worth 3 points (3 pts for regulation win, 2 points for OT/SO win, 1 point for OT/SO loss).

I know the formatting wouldn't look very good at all on here, so I'll just type it all out.

Had heard things about college hockey going to OT & SO like the NHL possibly as soon as next year. I'm watching the Michigan/Notre Dame game on CSTV now & they had a bit on it. Sounds like there are enough coaches that are for the change that it might actually be changed for next year. But there was one coach (not sure which one, my DVR through a fit & wouldn't reverse so I could see who) that said the shootout is a gimmick to make the game exciting for fans &...

St. Thomas vs Cretin-Derham

Watching part of the game on FSN tonight. Coaches for St. Thomas are Mike Vannelli's dad & uncle, his brother Rob is one of the top d-men for St. Thomas. Holy crap, watching Rob play is just like watching Mike play. Maybe he'll find his way to SF next year.

They also interviewed Mike for a little bit, was hoping they were going to ask him what was going on with him & hockey, but it never came up.
